A Google androidos mobiljának megjelenése előtt érdemes rögzíteni a helyzetképet, hogy később tudjunk hasonlítani. Nézzük, mit produkáltak az androidos mobilok 2009-ben.
A mobilreklámos AdMob adatai szerint decemberre őrült tempóra kapcsolt a növekedés: az októberihez képest az év utolsó hónapjában 97 százalékkal több androidos készülékkel került kapcsolatba világszerte az AdMob valamelyik reklámja. Decemberben összesen 1 milliárdnál is többször. (Tehát nem ennyi készülékről van szó, hanem ennyi reklámmegjelenítésről.)
Októberben még az érintett androidos mobilok 98 százaléka HTC telefon volt, decemberben 56 százalék HTC, 39 százalék Motorola és 5 százalék Samsung. A Motorola Droidja az év végére már az első helyre kúszott az AdMob androidos listáját, az összes reklámmegjelenítés 30 százaléka ilyen telefonon történt.
Az országok sorrendje: USA (90 százalék az októberi 84 után), Nagy-Britannia, Németország, Franciaország, Kanada.
