A Nokia Siemens kinézte magának a Motorolát
A Wall Street Journal úgy tudja, hogy a tranzakció értéke 1,1-1,3 milliárd dollár körül lehet, a megegyezés pedig akár heteken belül megszülethet. A Motorola külön akarja választani a veszteséges mobilkészülék-gyártást a távközlési hálózati eszközöket gyártó üzletágtól, és a feldarabolás után két különálló vállalat jönne létre.
A tervek szerint elsőként SpinCo néven válna ki a mobilkészülékeket és a kábeltelevíziós adás fogására alkalmas eszközöket gyártó ágazat. A fennmaradó, nyereséges részlegek Motorola Solutions néven működnének tovább, és folytatná a vonalkód-leolvasók, címkeolvasók, rádiós technikák, biztonsági rendszerek és távközlési hálózati eszközök gyártását.
A 2011 első negyedére tervezett feldarabolás után az eddigi elképzelések szerint a Motorola mindkét vállalatban megőrizte volna részesedését, az NSN érdeklődése azonban átírhatja a forgatókönyvet.
Osztanak, szoroznak
A Motorola hosszú ideje fontolgatja a vállalat felosztását, a pénzügyi-gazdasági válság miatt azonban egy időre félre kellett tennie az erről szóló terveket. A Nokia Siemens Networks pedig már egy ideje erősíteni szeretné észak-amerikai jelenlétét, mert az európai piacon többek közt az Ericson és az Alcatel-Lucent szorongatja, Kínában pedig a Huawei, valamint a ZTE fenyegeti pozícióit.
Tavaly azonban az NSN üres kézzel távozott a kanadai Nortel feldarabolása után. A Motorola egy részének megvásárolásával ugyanakkor fontos amerikai ügyfeleket kaparintana meg az európai konszern. Egy elemző azonban nincs meggyőződve arról, hogy érdemes a Motorolára hajtani.
A Motorola ugyanúgy GSM technológiával foglalkozik, mint az NSN, ezzel szemben a Nortel az Észak-Amerikában és Ázsia bizonyos részein elterjedt CDMA, illetve az új LTE technológiában volt jártas. Magyarán a Nortellel az NSN valóban új területekre tudott volna betörni.
